At the heart of the logo is a branch from the mighty tōtara tree, known for its strength and endurance. Each twig and leaf represents an individual student: unique, full of potential, yet always part of a greater whole.
This image reflects how children flourish when they grow alongside others. Just as a branch is only complete with all its parts, a student learns best when their talents are placed at the service of the community. In group projects, shared reading, and outdoor learning, students discover that their contributions strengthen everyone.
The branch is shaped like a silver fern, connecting us to the land and its spirit of resilience. It teaches children that life’s challenges are not obstacles but opportunities to keep moving forward with hope and steady effort.
Among the leaves are three small berries, inspired by the tōtara’s fruit that nourishes and sustains life. These represent the core virtues we seek to cultivate in every child: sincerity, fortitude, and magnanimity.
Sincerity helps children be truthful and genuine in how they live and relate to others. Fortitude gives them the courage to persevere in their studies and friendships, especially when things are difficult. Magnanimity enlarges their hearts, encouraging them to think of others and to act generously.

Tōtara Point School opens January 28, 2026 at Level 1, 303 Manukau Road, Epsom. We begin with Years 1 to 5 (up to 100 students) in a thoughtfully converted space and will expand to Years 1 to 6 by 2027.
