ENROLMENT
Is Tōtara Point School Right for Your Family?
We are a deliberately small, mission-driven school. Our priority is families who want a school that forms both mind and heart – who believe education is about preparing a child for a full, purposeful life.
We enrol families who:
- Share our passion for academic excellence and strong character
- Embrace our Catholic ethos and mission
- Want to be active partners in their child’s education
Opening in Term 1, 2026
- Wednesday 28 January 2026
- Years 1–5
- Expanding to Years 1–6 in 2027
- Approximately 20 children per class
We are currently taking expressions of interest for our foundation year. If you’re a family that believes in strong values, high standards, and a school-home partnership, we’d love to hear from you.

FAQs
Tōtara Point School is a state-funded charter school approved by the Charter School Agency. While not under diocesan governance, we uphold Catholic teachings and actively nurture faith, reason, and virtue in every aspect of school life. We operate independently while being publicly accountable.
No. We welcome families from all backgrounds who are supportive of our mission, values, and Catholic ethos.
As a charter school, Tōtara Point is free to attend. Uniforms and learning materials may incur minimal costs. However, we encourage families to make a voluntary donation each term.
We follow the Cambridge Primary Curriculum, enhanced by research-backed teaching practices. This allows our students to be confident, articulate, and knowledgeable learners.
We begin with Years 1–5 in 2026, growing to Years 1–6 in 2027, with approximately 20 students per year level. This means your child is truly known and thoughtfully nurtured.
We foster a calm, respectful, and purposeful learning environment. Children are taught self-mastery, courtesy, and resilience. Clear expectations and routines support strong habits from an early age.
We are proudly low-tech. Our classrooms prioritise books, discussion, and direct instruction. Technology is used minimally and intentionally.
Every student has a personal mentor who meets with them fortnightly. Mentors also meet with both parents once a term to ensure unity between home and school.
